I Only Want to Hold You

A poem of discovering my home

Image created by the author with OpenAI Art Generator

The foxes have a hole
Within the comfort of the earth,
Their bodies curl together
In a gently warming hearth

Their tails wrap around their snuggle
Keeping out the cold,
The air is chill above them
But their comfort’s ages old

The birds they have a nest
Within the branches of the tree,
They rest together in the warmth
Of knowing they are free

They wake upon the morning’s air
And sing the moonlight home,
The atmosphere is wintry
But their hearts’ alive and grown

My heart is yours to rest within
My body’s out of time,
It’s energy is nourishing
The heart that is divine

The fountain at my centre
The pure vessel of my love,
Are gifts for your remembering
The grace that rains above

The only place the son of man
Has left to rest his soul,
Is in his brother’s mind
As we remember we are whole

The only warming body
That you have to lie within,
Is the body of the self
That holds us gently free from sin

We become the one
As we bring comfort to the mind,
That’s asking for the blessing
Of the heart that’s gentle, kind

We become the blessing
And our bodies perfect be,
As the fountain at our hearts
Is opened to eternity

Eternally I love you
And eternally I see,
That my desire to hold you
To the heart that’s flowing free

Can giftly be a comfort
And no need a burden be,
I only want to hold you
In the warmth of certainty

My One Desire

On the breathtaking nature of love

My one desire: to be with you,
To feel your tender hand
Upon my head, your gentle arms
Wrapping the present where I stand

My one desire: be near your heart
And dearest as you are to me,
To all you are and all that I
Have truly been in thee

Be nearest to the heart in me
Between the solstice and the bay,
That curves around the centre
And that shelters me at play

Be the wave that winds me
As I try to take the breath you stole,
And pin my arms upon my sides
As I release and fall

And drop — and peaceful, fall no more
Through sandy caverns, time-spent olds,
I am the timeless falling lyre
The eagle’s wings still holds

And as the drifting wails reach
Your vessel rocking on the wilds,
My music rises and bequests
Itself to keep you as a child

Innocent to worldly claims
Delinquent to its raucous cares,
Untroubled by its lures and
Dis-acknowledging its wares

I keep you as I hope to be:
In freedom from the woe,
Of pleading invitations
To a crude and fateful throne

My one desire: to be with you
And keep you safe from greed,
To nourish, through the crown that opens,
Every depth of need

To win with you the mighty throne
That takes us all the way,
To perfect and immaculate
And everlasting grace

There is no need that is not met
Nor that our love won’t be,
Surrendering so softly
To the part we play in thee

There is no competition
For the love that we have won,
For deep within complexity
Simplicity lives on

Blossoming

A heart opening in gratitude and overflowing with love

Image created by author with NightCafe AI Art Generator

Softening your heart to me
As I begin within your sight
To blossom as the beauty
Of a prayer taking flight

And as the petals open
There is nothing left to hide
My nectar is unfathomably
Bare to your delight

You taste it at my heart
And you are nourished to your soul
The fountain of my holy water
Always is your home

And you can rest your hand
Upon the wall that holds the flow
And let your fingers dabble
In the soft and rosy glow

I offer you to gorge upon
The fountain at my core
To dip your head within her:
Soft, embracing, wholly warm

You lift your head to breathe
Having been sanctified and blessed
As you rest a while upon
The sacred pillow of my breast

I offer you to come to me
And rest a while inside
The holy law simplicity
Would never choose to hide

The sanctifying ardour
Of the heart that flower be
Eradicating meaningless desire
From its dream

And as we sit together
With our hearts abreast, in time
The memory of peace
Is clarified and realigned

I feel you moving into me
Our bodies are combined
The tissues that ensconced us
Giving way to the divine

I rest upon your shoulder
All my hesitance forsake
As I recognise eternity
In every breath we take

I have found my refuge
In the blossoming heart that yields
A reservoir of treasures
Flowing from the love that heals

When I Choose to Be Free

When the show is over

Author image, thanks to NightCafe AI Art Generator

When I choose to find the present
The arrow aimed directly at the centre of my mind
I rest in the blissful solitude of completeness

When my mind, full of nothingness
Becomes the mind of emptiness
Then the fullness of everything steps up to take its bow

The credits roll up the curtain
And timelessness, its breathtaking power
Reminds me to relax into its majesty

When I choose to be free
In the silent centre of myself
Where the self is acknowledged as a story past and gone

Set upon the stage, acted by 8 billion
Released into eternity’s beneficent refrain

I discover a deepening connection with the wholeness that I am
I recognise a truth I was defending with my separateness
And for this grateful instant out of time
Within your peaceful promise
I am at home

Unimaginably Beautiful

A poem experienced through a glorious gladioli

Author photo — the glorious gladioli – all rights and permissions reserved

I look into your face
For a perfect moment the universe is the intoxicating colour of your skin

Richness magnified intensely, my consciousness enfolded in the satiny immersion of your electrifying expression

I am saturated by the iridescent nature of your sepals’ colouring
Enjoying your obedience to the never-ending question of transition

Sleeping reptilian spines, ripening daily, revealing rich cascading blooms
Bursting suddenly, astonishingly, to the irresistible command of a forceful, silently chiming directive

A most remarkably inspiring shedding of skin

Destinies fulfilled
Treacherous, cavernous ways through deadly dunes averted
Songs of the open and blissful heart sung in euphoric harmony

An entire universe of grace, unimaginable beauty
A wormhole transporting me to flowing wells of freedom inside the openness of every blooming shell

The depths I can go to in me through you
As surprising and as beautiful as the never-ending opening of your soul to me

I cannot defy you. I must awaken, enliven, flower in irrevocable glory
Despite the fear that closes on my mind and holds me, trembling, still
I cannot respond to you but with my own blossoming of mind, my voice and my rising, grateful heart

Your petals will fall with the irrepressible illusion of time
My petals will droop and stale, as yours, before the body’s time-felt end

But beyond these death haunted dreams the glory of eternity wakes in the spirit of your irreversible flourishing and my breathless witnessing

I will always know your gifts and hear your song, alive, in this perfect, present heaven

And I will ever know the timeless constancy of our connection, our brotherhood, our love, throughout the ever-expanding infinitudes of mind

Drenched in Peace

Saturated to the gentle depths of an endless love

Thank you for the photo: by D. Carlton from FreeImages

I whisper on the seeds of an open, wild night to my dearest love, far beyond the body of this form.

He welcomes and engulfs me, circling above before diving within, taking root in the deepest nature of my being.

Here I am, mysterious generosity that gives me to myself in you.

I am a whole part of your belonging. I inherently become my own deepest need, fulfilled.

Palpable presence, the physical becomes vibration, body form dissolved.

The richness of your gratitude embalms my ancient grievance and releases the mind that had been desperately waiting to be released.

Explosions of gently unfolding magnificence. I am saturated, drenched in peace beyond conceptual thought, beyond the world of time.

I will see you here again, my perfect love of wholesome gratitude; the Self that is but singular yet never alone.

I will see you here, beyond my forms of solitude, and I will love you every moment in between, see your perfect translation of perception, and feel the perfect comfort of your course, your onward river’s flow.

I will love you, infinitely, eternally, with the love that in this moment of gentle surrender you have given to me.

You are my one, true, perfect, joyful, all-encompassing, love.
